Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Deutscher Fine Art handled the sale of many prestigious works of Australian art, from Colonial through to Contemporary. Significantly, many of these were either sold directly to, or have subsequently entered, the country’s major public galleries and museums.
Today, drawing upon over 50 years of combined experience in the commercial gallery, auction house and museum sectors, Chris Deutscher and Damian Hackett continue that tradition of excellence in their exciting auction business, deutscher and hackett.
Now in its seventh year and having set dozens of artists auction records, deutscher and hackett conducts three major fine art auctions per year, one major auction of Australian Aboriginal art and special auctions of single-owner and corporate collections. In May 2012, deutscher and hackett sold Arthur Streeton's Settlers Camp for $2,520,000 which remains the highest price achieved for an Australian painting at auction since 2010.
deutscher and hackett is committed to establishing new industry standards across all areas – from auction presentation and marketing to collection development and management; research and valuations; conservation; display; transport and specialist art storage. Auction previews and special exhibitions are held in our purpose built, centrally located galleries in Sydney and Melbourne.
We value strong client relationships and warmly invite you to contact us to discuss ways in which deutscher and hackett may assist you now and in the future.
