Catalogue text

This canvas is a pink and yellowed ochred aerial overview of country. It demonstrates a gentle play with paint that has a softened dotting application. The fusing of colour tones permits the textures of the country to form, with a darker toned area instinctively drawing interest, particularly if this should be a source of water with its accompanying possibilities of nearby bush tucker.

There is a patient meditative feel to this work, and this gives rise to wondering about the time when this work was painted. There is no doubt with Emily that her mood and personal circumstances influenced her when at work.
