This painting is accompanied by a certificate of
authenticity from Delmore Gallery, Alice Springs

The accompanying certificate of authenticity from Delmore Gallery, notes that this painting contains imagery associated with Kngwarreye’s traditional country, and in particular the yam plants Anooralya.

Dense with symbols, this work is underpinned by a formal ground which forms the platform onto which the artist then layers an interwoven network, representing the underground yam plants. Kngwarreye layers tone upon tone, creating a delicate timeline of the yam tubers evolution and eventual ripening, the final yellow depicting the kame, a seedbearing flower.

The kame is part of Kngwarreye’s tribal name, and the plant her custodial responsibility.
