Catalogue text
This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd, Alice Springs Portraying designs associated with the rockhole site of Marrapinti to the west of Kiwirrkura, this painting is typical of Nungurrayi's gestural style and bold palette. The story describes a large group of senior women who were camped at the rockhole making nose-bones. Traditionally worn by both men and women through a hole in the nose-web, they now only adorn the older generation on ceremonial occasions.
