Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Warlayirti Artists which states: 'Eubena has painted soakwaters found along the Canning Stock Route, Itjantjarra, Kawithardu, Mardun, Yarra, Iumarri and Ulgurrda. These are the waterholes along the route that Eubena and her family travelled each year, stopping to camp by each of them until the local food was gathered and the water was low and then moving on to the next. Eubena has painted the small hills in the distance and the larger sand dunes that surround the trail. The waterholes were formed in the Tjukurrpa (dreamtime) by a group of ancestral women who travelled through the desert dancing and singing and forming the features of the land as they went.'
