Overview
In addition to our regular auction program, Deutscher and Hackett offers tailored solutions to assist clients with the ongoing management of their collections – whether they be private individuals, corporations or public institutions. In particular, our highly experienced team of professionals can provide valuations for market or insurance purposes; assist with optimal transport, storage and display of both individual artworks and collections; assess physical condition and identify conservation needs; and more broadly, provide unbiased, strategic advice on the expansion or refining of a collection.
Valuations

With over fifty years’ experience providing advice to Australia’s leading public galleries and private collectors alike, Deutscher and Hackett’s team of art specialists bring the integrity, rigour and professional recognition required for more formal art valuations. In addition to complimentary auction appraisals, our services cover a wide range of needs such as insurance, market, probate and superannuation fund valuations.
We also value art on a regular basis for the Cultural Gifts Program, offering tax incentives for donations to registered public institutions. Our valuation fees vary according to the category as well as the time required for completion. Fees may be reimbursed if the works of art valued are subsequently sold with Deutscher and Hackett. There are no fees associated with auction appraisals and accompanying proposals.

Transport, storage and display

Deutscher and Hackett can offer assistance with the safe packing, transport and shipping (both locally and internationally) of artworks, as well as storage solutions (either on a short or long-term basis). Our Registration department will routinely obtain quotes and make arrangements with third party contractors on behalf of clients, and can also liaise with our Installation team to assist clients with the optimal display of artworks in their homes.
Conservation

Our experienced team of art specialists can provide an assessment of the physical condition of clients’ artworks or collections and identify needs for conservation or reframing. We have dedicated, highly skilled conservators across a diverse range of media with whom we regularly consult and can liaise on behalf of clients to ensure their treasured artworks endure for generations to come. We can also make recommendations and undertake reframing of artworks in more historically or aesthetically appropriate choices, as required.
Collection advisory and management

Our bespoke collection advisory and management services are designed to address the unique needs of individual collectors – whether it be downsizing or refining a collection; identifying areas for development and providing unbiased, strategic advice on potential acquisitions; or managing the transition of such collections from one generation to another. With decades of experience advising both private collectors and public institutions, our team of art specialists have the trusted expertise, due diligence and lateral thinking required to help our clients achieve the best outcomes for their collections, both now and into the future.
