This work is accompanied by a copy of the certificate of authenticity from Warlayirti Artists which states:
‘Brandy has painted some of his traditional country, which is far to the south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. The central panels represent a particular type of bush seed collected here, kulparri, while the central circle represents water used to mix the damper. These small black seeds are ground up to make damper. Brandy’s painting also tells some of the Tjukurrpa (Dreamtime) for the area, about people arguing over the damper and one big lady started a fight with the men. Some other women finally cut the damper up to share it.’
