Condition:
This work is in fair condition.
This work has not been viewed out of its frame.
The colours are clear and fairly vibrant but have probably faded to some extent consistent with age.
There is a vertical line of discolouration through the centre of the work.
Under ultraviolet light inspection, there are three noticeable areas of retouching: On the right hand side, above the standing girl with her hands up high. Through and around the hanging towel and the adjacent palm leaves in the upper left hand side in the striped tent.
All the areas of retouching correspond to fine horizontal tears or wear in the silk which are visible in the enlarged online catalogue illustration.
This work is housed in its original fine period stepped black decorative frame with gilt inset highlighting the fan shape and green/blue linen mount.
