This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Papunya Tula Artists which states:

‘This painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole site of Yumarra, east of Punkilpirri, which is north west of Docker River in the James Range.

The artist has shown the hilly country through which a group of women, represented by the ‘U’ shapes, passed during their travels from Yumarra to Punkilpirri and then north to Tjukula and Talili.

While in the area they gathered edible seeds, known as tjamanpa, from the mulga tree. These seeds are cleaned and roasted before grinding into a paste, the texture and taste of which is similar to peanut butter and is equally nutritious.’
