The auction features 43 lots of well-known examples of contemporary photography including works by: Petrina Hicks, Bill Henson, Rosemary Laing, Shaun Gladwell, Julie Rrap, Anne Ferran, Callum Morton and Patricia Piccinini.
Pat Corrigan has enthusiastically shared his love of collecting with the public over many decades. In addition to loans of hundreds of works to public institutions and universities, he has donated more than one thousand works of art to over forty-five regional galleries, cultural institutions and charitable organisations across the country. These photographs have been on long-term loan to public institutions for over 20 years, most going on display there mere months after purchase from the galleries and artists.
Examples of these works have been extensively exhibited throughout Australia and internationally, from the early 1980s until today and feature in seminal publications on Australian Photography. Most recently, several examples of these photographs have appeared in Part One of the National Gallery of Australia’s Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 To Now exhibition series, revisiting and highlighting their historic and creative impact.
