This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Warlayirti Artists that states: ‘Kantawarra is the name of a small rockhole, found on Lucy’s grandmother’s country, noth [sig] west of Wilkinkarra, or Lake Mackay, the vast salt lake south of Balgo in The Great Sandy Desert. Kantawarra only holds water after rain, and is shown here in the centre of the painting, dominated by the tali, or sand dunes of the area. The U shape depicts some ancestral women who came to Kantawarra to collect some of the munyun available there. Munyun is a small seed which grows on a large tree in the area.’
